The Wake Up Leeuwarden is an active community of young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35, inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. The meditation group has its origins in the Plum Village Tradition which mainly practices mindfulness from a Mahayana perspective, also drawing elements from Zen and Theravada. Located in Leeuwarden the group welcomes all people between 18-35 years old to practice Meditation and Mindfulness with them.
Plum Village is a Buddhist community and spiritual organization founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-2018). It is based on the teachings of the Vietnamese Zen tradition and follows the practice of Engaged Buddhism, which involves actively working to promote peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Plum Village is located in the Dordogne region of France and has centers and affiliated groups around the world, including in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
