The Dharma Bum Temple is a place where you can practice Buddhism. This community does not advocate one particular school of Buddhism but focuses on being a bridge for people to learn how to make change within their own life and help others. They focus on The Four Noble Truths, Eightfold Path and Six Paramitas and emphasize that speaking about Buddhism is not enough. One must practice the basic Buddhist principles to begin to realize the cause of their suffering and be free of it.
Dharma Bum Temple was built in 1924 where Chinese workers used to sleep since this was old Chinatown. In 2005, the temple was designated as a place in America where people could learn Buddhism and practice meditation while feeling comfortable in their own culture. By the end of 2006, the Dharma Bum Temple was opened and the founders embarked onto their path of propagating the dharma. The Dharma Bum Temple is now a home and place of refuge for all who decide to enter and practice the teachings of the Buddha. The Dharma Bum Temple provides guidance to Buddhism and Meditation Services.
They also organize several activities like Dharma Talks and outreach to the community. This community also offers Buddhist Recovery Program for Overcoming Addictions. The followers of this community are disciples of the Buddha, practitioners of the Dharma and caretakers of the Sangha.
